Award for Kibble Community Garden

Well done to our team for winning the Douglas Boyle 'Proximity Principle Pot' Award 2011. The team have been awarded this for our management of the Community Garden’s Rocket A900 composter which is being used to recycle all of our food waste. It is a great achievement to be awarded this having only been composting since September. Check out www.organics-recycling.org.uk for more info!

Carol McMath has made it to the final of the BBC Food and Farming Awards

Congratulations to our colleague Carol McMath who has made it to the final of the BBC Food and Farming Awards, in the Best "Dinner Lady"/Public Caterer category! We were delighted to get a mention when Richard Lochhead, Rural Affairs Secretary, posted a video of his visit to Kibble to congratulate Carol. The Kibble Community Garden works very closely with the all the catering staff, ensuring the kitchens are supplied with fresh vegetables, and that food waste from the kitchens is returned to the garden to create the compost to keep the vegetables coming, a veritable cycle of recycling!
